The Facebook Project
The Facebook photography project was originally designed to produce a portfolio of portraits of friends from my graduating high school class of 1967. I set up the project parameters and sent out a notice on my FaceBook page. To my surprise none of those that had gone through high school with me wanted to participate, but many others did. Suddenly, the number of friends on my Facebook page skyrocketed.
The rules for participating were simple. Each individual was to be photographed in front of a white background and within a designated space in front of the background. During the session, no direction as how to pose would be given to the subjects. Participants were, however, encouraged to adopt poses or expressions which defined their personalities. The inclusion of props that were relevant to the subject was encouraged.
For participating, each individual was given a signed and dated 10” X 15” black and white print of my choice (the duplicate of the image which I had chosen to be included in the portfolio). The Facebook images can not be purchased.
